Finding gratitude amongst the grumbles…

Thanksgiving is fast approaching! Just like every other mark on the calendar, it will be here before we know it.  As a matter of fact, I just saw my first full-blown outdoor Christmas décor in our neighborhood! (I am writing this Thursday night November 5, 2020.) Not that I have a problem with that…the weather has been great, and I love Christmas decorations! It is just a…

As a Christian …

..…where do I start to pray? I love to pray, because when I do, I see the Lord make the impossible, possible. However simple, “bless” my prayers, just doesn’t carry the weight that is needed each day to express my heart to God, or satisfy my responsibility to pray. Jesus said, “each day has enough trouble of its own”. Isn’t that true? Naturally, as a believer, I feel…

It is almost time…

One week to go and we will be seeing one another! It feels like it’s been so very long! We will re-open for “in person” services on Sunday, May 31st! We have been working on “protocol” of safety measures and cleaning measures to keep everyone safe. I will be outlining in this letter what I mean by that. I reached out to the council members for their advice on opening. We…

Happy Easter!

What a wonderful greeting! There could not be a more welcomed hope! We need to reach deep within for all the significance of this Day!  No wonder Paul resounded in his letter to the Colossians … Christ in You, the Hope of Glory! Is Easter just another Hallmark on your calendar that Spring has sprung or the family is coming for dinner? Not this Easter. Perhaps the setting…

Stand……..

Having done all to stand…Stand!    Eph.6:13-14 Words from the Apostle. Ancient as they may be, they are still relevant! They are instructions to the Christian. Paul uses the roman soldier in complete battle array as a metaphor to impress his audience of the kind of war zone they are living in. He instructs, “The weapons of our ‘warfare’ are not natural.” …

Do Not be Afraid…

Only Believe! Luke 8:50 Awesome comforting instruction in this time of uncertainty.  Believing right now, seems impossible, unrealistic and downright challenging!  Fears have a way of editing faith, and limiting what you’re asking for. Jesus addressed it…DON’T BE AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE. After listening to the president’s appeal for all Americans to do their part in fighting…

Never Confused…

There are many aspects of God’s rule that are tried and tested by Himself and His people. You do not even have to pray for, or about them. The rule, principle, or law I am thinking about is “sowing and reaping” or “planting and harvesting”. The rule is as tried and true as addition and multiplication are. (2 + 2 = 4 or 7 x 7 = 49) So, when you look at your giving to the…

Uncommon……

That’s right! The ads are out, the specials are on! Everything from dinners, to champagne, strawberries dipped, to diamonds and massages… all to celebrate love. We dress it up, romanticize it and sell it. Nothing wrong with expressing and acknowledging emotions between each other. But, that is common. We do it every February 14th in recent history. What is…

Do The Math!

How often do we underestimate our life?  Especially when a season is at a fast pace or extremely tedious and mundane.  Often we fail to pause long enough to think through the decisions, emotions, attitudes and consequences that test us.  Then we do something really toxic…we compare and complain. The Hymn writer penned…”Count your Blessings”.  Number them, one by one, you…

Ask Not…?

Peculiar start to this letter to say the least. I was thinking back to a statement I heard as a little 7 year old boy. President John F. Kennedy said in his inaugural speech, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”  Why I recall that statement made 58 years ago is more than a stroll down “memory lane”.  The Holy Spirit is…
