This is not My Home!

This is not My Home!

The New Testament writers encourage us to keep a very healthy understanding of Heaven. After hearing some very disturbing stats on the death rate around the world, I have started a new series devoted to our eternal home: Heaven!

Alarming stats:

  • 3 people die every second
  • 180 die every minute
  • 11 thousand die every hour
  • 250 thousand people die per week

So many people gamble with their soul. We hope all is eternally well; however, when most people are asked about the subject, they are uncomfortable. I believe this is due to many half-truths and non-truths. For example, the belief that you go to heaven based on whether you’ve been good or bad. We open Pandora’s Box…who is ever good enough to be let in, or bad enough to be kept out? Truth is, God provided the solution to that dilemma. He sent His Son, to live the life I couldn’t live and die the death I deserve to die. The love of God has made a way for me. He became sin so that I would be accounted for as righteous as if I never sinned or was “bad.” My entry to Heaven is based on my belief and confession of the same. Romans 10:8-10.

Therefore, I am encouraged to focus on things above, where Christ is seated. C. S. Lewis said we are uncomfortable with the thoughts of Heaven because we don’t recognize them. I know one thing for sure…I will not be bored. One cartoonist pictures some guy on a cloud, white choir robe and violin in hand. The caption read, “I wish I brought a magazine.” No matter how shallow and insulting that is, nonetheless many land on that thought and fear going to Heaven based on someone’s lack of imagination and knowledge of God.

I am sure you’ve heard the observation, “he’s so Heavenly minded, he is no earthly good.” It diminishes the biblical admonition to “focus on things above.”

Colossians 3:1-2 International Standard Version (ISV)
Therefore, if you have been raised with the Messiah, keep focusing on the things that are above, where the Messiah is seated at the right hand of God. Keep your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.

Please join me this Sunday at our 10:15 am Service as we continue …This is not My Home!

I know you will be glad you did!
