I Love…

I Love…

the Lord! But does He know it? Does anybody know it? This is one of the months we celebrate love…Hallmark or not, we celebrate it.

So how/when does the Lord know I love Him? How/when does my family know I love Him? How/when does my closest friend know I love the Lord?

I have a new nature, so different from the old. By nature I mean…I want to…I have to…I need to…serve Him. Not because I am trying to get into His good graces (we know we can’t earn it) but because we want to.  Actually I am magnificently put together by my creator and realize I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

So where do I start? How do I show Him? I am so not qualified…I don’t know how or when to begin. He said He would build His Church and Hell itself could not stop the construction of it. That being said, we have a clue as to what are His interests… I mean if I love Him, I want to know what to do for Him anyway I can. The Lord said, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” The righteous asked, “When Lord?” The Lord said, “As you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”

I am beginning to get the picture. If I say I love Him and do nothing it is mere words. It is another story if I adjust my life and roll up my sleeves, take a risk, buy someone a coat or give someone a drink or a ride or visit a sick person in need…let alone in prison.

The Lord asked the Samaritan woman for a drink of water…Isn’t it time we ask Him what His needs are? All too often I am concerned about my thirst. (Oh yeah, I must be growing up, I started this with a new nature!)

I am beginning a new series this month called …Because I love…  I have asked Pastor Cathy to join me for a few messages as we share in life’s episodes the meaning of love that does something. I know you will be blessed and inspired to love.
