If The Axe is Dull…..

If The Axe is Dull…..

You are going to swing harder! You get the picture; work smarter not harder. I need to keep my axe sharp if I plan on getting things done.

Ecclesiastes 10:10
10 If the ax is dull,
And one does not sharpen the edge,
Then he must use more strength;
But wisdom brings success.

Wisdom says stay sharp. So how do I keep the cutting edge?

I believe you understand the necessity of reading your bible and prayer. If you have to swing harder, check this basic category first. But we do not stay sharp by just knowing a few bible verses and praying. We are changed when we actually apply faith to life. It is one thing to say I believe in…it is quite another to actually take action based upon what you believe. The “just” are to live by their “faith.” In order to take the dull edge and make it sharp again, you must trust what you cannot see, become vulnerable to a promise being fulfilled, and have the patience to wait for it.

You get the picture. We become dull when we stop doing…going…being what we should be. Jobs, education, good health, peaceful relationships, and a warm house can be an awesome blessing of righteousness! However, when was the last time you used your faith? I am sure you know people who attend bible studies, prayer breakfasts, seminars, and church services who never act on one thing they have gained knowledge of. Staying sharp in God often requires us to go out on a limb, take a risk, trust yourself to another! We all will someday.

It is so easy to say, “I believe Jesus is the Way”…but you actually become sharp when you tell others “He’s the Way.” It is so easy to say, “I believe prayer works”…but have you tried it? It is so easy to say amen to the tithe but quite another to write the check!

Often we have used our faith to obtain the job, the house, the spouse, the car, the girl, and the vacations! But then we stop. He wants you to use your house, expand your influence on the job, become Christ-like to your family, treat your girl/boy friend as holy, use your car for the work of the Lord, and always take Jesus on vacation!

If you do…the “edge” will remain sharp and you will really have the time to do more than you ever thought possible!
